Porto Roma

37° 43.1′ N · 20° 59.4′ E

A small bay near the tip of the Vasilikos peninsula, just outside the marine park's north-east boundary, with a beach bar on the rocks and a sandy bottom. Many guides call it an idyllic calm-weather anchorage; in high summer it is busy with beach-goers, banana rides and jet skis.

Practical

SailingIssues: reasonable shelter in the prevailing NW, otherwise exposed (open to the east); good holding on sand; overcrowded with resort traffic in summer. A small breakwater shelters the local boats on the south side (OpenStreetMap). Ashore: Nikos Beach Bar on the rocks above the beach (grill, fish and lamb; Wikivoyage) and the family-run Mikri Plateia taverna up the road, evenings only, no menu (Wikivoyage). The Zante Sea Turtle Rescue & Information Centre and Gerakas beach are about 20 minutes' walk. Do not stray south-west into the park's Zone A off Gerakas.

Best for

Fair-weather night outside the marine park, walking distance to Gerakas

Season
