Atherinos (Port Atheni), a bay and small fishing harbour on Meganisi's north-east coast with a couple of tavernas, fresh fish and quiet coves.

Practical

Open to N-NE (sailingissues.com). Go stern-to or alongside on the outside of the pier, or anchor in one of several coves, preferably in deep water with a line ashore. A reef runs out into the middle of the bay, mostly just under water (my-sea); sailingissues marks it at 38.66711, 20.79935, connected to the cape. Sailingissues waypoints: entrance 38 40.025 N, 20 48.100 E; east entrance 38 40.200 N, 20 48.500 E. Niagas Taverna has its own jetty (my-sea, 38.66311, 20.79978). Limited provisions (minimarkets) but lots of fresh fish. The Vathi-Katomeri-Atherinos footpath ends here.
