Poros South Quay (Poros)

37° 29.9′ N · 23° 27.3′ E

The south-facing stretch of the Poros waterfront, looking straight across the narrow channel at Galatas, with cafes and tavernas lining the boulevard behind the boats. It is the most sheltered part of the town quay in the prevailing northerlies.

Practical

Same Port Fund rules, fees and VHF 9 as the north quay (see Poros Town Quay & Channel). Navily (via 12knots) places the South Quay at 37.49823N 23.45495E and its reviewers praise the shelter and the restaurants but note stricter stay rules (shorter stays) in recent years. SailingIssues says there are sections along the narrow strait where you can go stern-to or bows-to the boulevard. The channel here is busy with the Galatas car ferry, water taxis and Piraeus ferries, so set the anchor well and leave room for the wash. Water and power posts run along the quay (Noonsite). The Port Police office is on this southern quay, east of the ferry dock.
