Lemon Forest (Lemonodasos) Walk
37° 28.7′ N · 23° 27.6′ E · approximate
A walk through the lemon-tree forest of Lemonodasos outside Galatas to the old Kardasi watermill, once driven by a waterfall; Patrick Leigh Fermor helped make the grove famous.
Practical
Coordinate is approx: Wikipedia places Lemonodasos about 3 km outside Galatas at Artimos, on the way to Porto Heli; no mapped trailhead was found, so this point is only indicative. Take the water taxi or car ferry from Poros to Galatas (3-5 minutes), then walk or take a taxi. Wikipedia notes the Kardasi watermill is now abandoned. Best in spring, when the blossom is out. Carry water and wear proper shoes for the stream paths.
Best for
A green half-day ashore from Poros or Galatas
Season
Best Mar-May (blossom); shady in summer
