The former Monastery of the Dormition in the middle of the harbour front — a domed basilica built 1648 and rebuilt 1774, with a marble bell tower, silver chandeliers and the tomb of Lazaros Kountouriotis.
Practical
OSM museum node. The cloistered courtyard is always open; a small Byzantine-ecclesiastical museum upstairs shows 18th-century vestments and icons, including the 1774 icon 'Unwithered Rose'. Wikivoyage reported museum entry around €4 (verify locally); interior hours are erratic. Tel (museum) +30 22980 54071.
Best for
A cool, quiet courtyard off the busy quay
