Ermioni Bisti Pine Peninsula Walk

37° 23.0′ N · 23° 15.4′ E · approximate

A pine-forested headland at the tip of Ermioni with the ruins of ancient Hermione, sea views to Hydra and two small pebble-and-rock beaches reached only on foot.

Practical

Coordinate approx: the OSM 'Castle of Ermioni' node within the Bisti woods. Walk out from the harbour along the peninsula; the municipality notes the ruins of the ancient city on the Bisti peninsula, and Ermioni's 4th-century BC city wall underlies the old church and Kapodistrian school. Also walk up the ancient hill of Pron to the chapel of Agia Ermioni, built on the foundations of a temple of Hera, for the view. In antiquity Hermione was famous for porphyra (purple dye) and shipbuilding.

Best for

A morning walk and swim from the Ermioni quay
