Anchorage· Kalamos· Greece — Ionian, Saronic & Argolic

Episkopi (Kalamos)

38° 38.9′ N · 20° 55.7′ E

A tiny, isolated fishing harbour on the north coast of Kalamos, framed by pine forest and very blue water.

Practical

Shallow: about 2 m at the outer mole decreasing to 1.5 m towards the shore, with little room to manoeuvre, so only small yachts fit (my-sea). Sailingissues.com: deeper water near the entrance; excellent shelter from the prevailing NW, but unsuitable in westerlies and stronger easterlies. The anchorage just outside can become a buoyed swimming area. Along the coast to the east are several lunch-stop anchorages with small piers to tie to, notably at the monastery and the Agios Donatos church.

Best for

Small-boat harbour and lunch stops on the north coast

Season

Summer NW conditions; not in W or strong E
