37° 35.8′ N · 23° 4.8′ E

Ancient drama, opera and music under the stars in the ancient theatre of Epidaurus and in the Little Theatre by Palaia Epidavros harbour, part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival every summer.

Practical

Coordinate is the Ancient Theatre (OpenStreetMap). The 2026 festival ran 20 June to 28 August at Epidaurus (athenscabs.com), opening with Cherubini's Medea and closing with Euripides' Ion; the Little Theatre season ran 26 June-8 August (Festival site). The 2027 programme is usually announced between February and April. On performance days festival coaches leave Athens at 5pm and return 30 minutes after the end of the show; KTEL buses also run to Palaia Epidavros (Festival venue pages). Late entry is not allowed except in an interval. For sailors: berth or anchor at Palaia Epidavros or Nea Epidavros and take a taxi (booked in advance) to the Ancient Theatre, or simply walk to the Little Theatre. Harbours fill on performance weekends, so arrive by midday.
