Agios Stefanos (NE Corfu)

39° 46.0′ N · 19° 57.0′ E

A deep inlet in the island's north-east corner with a small fishing harbour and a ring of tavernas — one of the most solid anchorages on Corfu in the prevailing north-westerlies, and the closest point to Albania. Locally called Agios Stefanos Sinion; not the NW-coast village of the same name.

Practical

Coordinate from mySea (anchorage in 4–8 m, mud and weed). Approaching from the north, keep well clear of the coast and the lit Serpa reef (SailingIssues). The Greek Waters Pilot suggests anchoring with a line to the pier, but depths there are under 2.5 m and commercial ships send in significant waves (SailingIssues); the jetty is only 1–1.3 m (mySea). Several 'wooden jetty plus taverna' combinations along the bay.

Best for

Secure NW-wind anchorage with tavernas
