Summer brings a thermal northwesterly that builds through the afternoon. It funnels down the valleys of Ithaca and Kefalonia as strong gusts into Kioni, Vathi, Agia Effimia and Fiskardo.
Practical
Coordinate approx: mid-Ithaca channel. Mostly NW Force 2–5 in summer; squalls possible in October. Plan quay arrivals before mid-afternoon. Expect violent NW gusts in Vathi and vicious W–NW gusts at Agia Effimia. In Kioni it is strongest in June–July and usually eases after about 8pm.
