Thymaina (Keramidou Bay)

37° 34.5′ N · 26° 27.4′ E · approximate

Thymaina, the inhabited island just west of Fourni, is untouched by mass tourism; Keramidou Bay on its east side is a picturesque, sheltered bay with a family seafood taverna below the hilltop church of St Demetrios.

Practical

Island-ikaria.com describes Keramidou as a picturesque, sheltered bay used by Ikaria day-sail charters for swimming, snorkelling and lunch at the local family-owned seafood taverna, with a short walk up to St Demetrios church for panoramic views and the nearby port village of Thymaina. Depth and holding are not published - sound in. Ferries also call at Thymaina. The channel between Fourni and Thymaina has accelerated meltemi and confused seas - see the passage entry. Position is derived from the OpenStreetMap Keramidou hamlet, offset into the bay (approx).
