Ikaria's classic waymarked loop through the Raches highlands - pine forest, mountain villages with lunch stops, small freshwater lakes and gorges - starting and ending at Livadi beach by Armenistis.
Practical
About 14 km for the full loop; trails described as well marked. A dedicated map of the same name (and the 1:35,000 Terrain map, which describes eleven island hikes) is sold locally. Watch for water snakes and turtles at the lakes and Eleonora's falcons overhead. Carry water; start early in summer heat. From a boat: base at Evdilos and taxi or drive west. Position is Livadi beach (approx), taken from the Livadi Beach entry.
