Psili Ammos Anchorage (Samos)

37° 42.3′ N · 27° 0.9′ E

A shallow, sandy cove at the narrowest part of the Samos-Turkey strait, just west of Poseidonio, with Turkey close enough to see village lights.

Practical

Good protection from the meltemi, but strong gusts enter the bay (my-sea). Shallow and sandy - anchor off in the clear patches; very popular swimming beach with tavernas ashore (Taverna Psili Ammos). You are at the Greek-Turkish maritime border here: stay in Greek waters unless cleared.

Best for

Turquoise swim stop on the Mycale strait
