Poliochni Prehistoric Site (Lemnos)

39° 51.2′ N · 25° 20.6′ E

Excavated streets, wells and a 'bouleuterion' of stone benches make Poliochni one of the oldest towns in Europe — older than Troy I — set above the sea on Lemnos' east coast.

Practical

Coordinate from OpenStreetMap. Excavated by the Italian School of Archaeology at Athens (Wikipedia). Visit Limnos: open Wednesday to Monday 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, closed Tuesday; tel +30 22540 91249 (verify current hours). A short drive from Moudros; the east coast here is exposed, so most crews visit by taxi from Moudros.
