Plaka Bay Anchorage (Tilos)
36° 28.0′ N · 27° 18.3′ E
A deep bay under Cape Spano on Tilos's north-west tip, known for excellent holding and a safe meltemi anchorage, and the walking start for the Agios Panteleimon monastery.
Practical
Anchor close to the shore in 5-10 m over sand with weed patches; the bay is deep. Nearly all-round protection, safe even in strong NNW meltemi, but very vulnerable to NNE through E: then move to Livadia or the south coast (Limenari or Eristos). A wind turbine stands just north of the mostly pebble beach. The monastery is a 40-minute hike up the slopes of Profitis Ilias (Sailing Issues).
Best for
Meltemi-proof night on north-west Tilos
Season
Good in NW–N; leave in NE–E
