Panormos Bay (Astypalaia)

36° 35.5′ N · 26° 16.6′ E

A narrow inlet on the empty north-west coast of the western wing, with a tiny beach, a bigger beach on the south side and a short walk to a chapel. There is no phone signal and nobody about but goats.

Practical

MarinaTips: 4–5 m over sand and flat rock. The bay is narrow: use a kedge or a line ashore to keep a west–east orientation. It gives reasonable shelter from meltemi swell; avoid strong SW and N. Nearby Panormos beach anchorage (36.5883, 26.2789) has good holding on sand and is very secluded, with no cell service (MarinaTips).

Best for

Remote overnight on the west wing

Season

Settled weather; avoid strong N or SW
