A green valley of orchards running down to a long beach and a taverna-lined front just west of Chora: the island's liveliest beach and a pretty anchorage.

Practical

MarinaTips: sand, weed and rocks; drop into a sandy patch in good light. Moderate protection overall; avoid strong SE and S winds. Clear water and tavernas on the beach. Wikivoyage: an organised beach with plenty of restaurants, about 25 minutes' walk from Chora. Gerani (+30 2243 061484) and Astropelos (+30 2243 061473) are among the restaurants mapped on the front (OSM). The 5th-century Agios Vasilios basilica is in the valley (aegeanislands.gr).
