Nea Koutali Harbour (Lemnos)

39° 53.5′ N · 25° 12.3′ E

The rebuilt fishing harbour of Nea Koutali on the north-west shore of Moudros Bay, a village whose monuments honour the Asia Minor refugees who settled it.

Practical

Grecosailor: mooring rings at about 2.5 m; mooring posts installed but not yet connected (undated report). The Municipality says the Nea Koutali fishing shelter serves 81 professional fishing boats and 4 leisure boats and offers safe berthing in any sea state after dredging and a new mole — so yacht space is limited; ask locally. Nearby anchorages in the upper bay: Saint Barbara Beach (39.8757, 25.2130; mostly weed, shelter from all but E and S, sudden shoaling) and Saint Theodoros northern bay (39.8493, 25.1912; centre 12–15 m, anchor in 4–5 m in the SE corner clear of submerged rocks).
