Manganitis (Ikaria)
37° 33.4′ N · 26° 7.0′ E
A small fishing and ferry harbour on Ikaria's dramatic south-west coast, linked to the rest of the island by Ikaria's only road tunnel and the gateway to Seychelles beach.
Practical
Best visited in calm weather only: considerable swell, strong gusts and shallow water; untenable in southerly winds. Moor alongside inside the breakwater. Watch for above- and below-water rocks extending from the coast outside and inside the harbour (my-sea). Water taxis to Seychelles beach sometimes run from the fishing port; a southern boat service links Agios Kirykos, Manganitis and Karkinagri. Taverna-cafe Sto Gialo by the harbour. Noonsite describes it as 'well worth a visit if you have the right conditions'.
Best for
Calm-day visit to the wild south-west coast
