Koutsomitis & Kounoupa Islets (Astypalaia)

36° 32.9′ N · 26° 26.9′ E

Tiny islets off Astypalaia's south-east tip ringed by water of an unreal turquoise. At Koutsomitis a pebble spit joins it to neighbouring Tigani, so you can swim from either side.

Practical

Greeka: Koutsomiti is a pebbly beach on the narrow strait between the Koutsomiti and Tigani islets, reached by excursion boats from Pera Gialos and Maltezana, which also visit Kounoupa. Kounoupa (about 1.5 nm south-east, OSM 36.5310, 26.4680) is an uninhabited islet whose two beaches sit on a thin strip of golden sand and fine pebbles; a small canteen serves cocktails and local dishes, and umbrellas and loungers cost €20 a set per day (Wikivoyage, 2025). We found no published anchoring data: arrive early before the trip boats, anchor on sand clear of their approach, and treat it as a calm-weather day stop. About 4–5 nm from Maltezana.
