Koukounaries Lagoon & stone-pine reserve (Strofilia, Skiathos)
39° 9.1′ N · 23° 24.1′ E · approximate
Behind Koukounaries beach a lagoon is cut off from the sea by a wooded peninsula of stone pines (Pinus pinea) — a protected biotope you can explore by dinghy up the little stream from the beach.
Practical
Approximate position: just inland of the Koukounaries beach anchorage (yachting.com beach position, Wikipedia 39.15, 23.40). The lagoon mouth is just behind the mini-port at the beach (Sailing Issues); Helm's itinerary suggests taking the dinghy up the small river into the lagoon and forest reserve. The area is listed as a NATURA biotope (reference cited by Wikipedia). Go slowly and quietly; no anchoring in the lagoon.
Best for
