Autumn southerlies & thunderstorms (Dodecanese)
37° 7.6′ N · 26° 51.2′ E · approximate
In October, especially late in the month, southerly winds and occasional severe thunderstorms replace the meltemi. Anchorages that are perfect in northerlies, such as Xerokampos, Pothia and Vlichadia, become exposed.
Practical
Always keep two anchorages in mind: one for N winds and one for S. Southerly refuges here: Alinda (Leros), the Lakki marinas, Partheni, and the NW cove of Leros. Strong southerlies push swell into Pothia and Lakki Bay. Coordinate is approximate (Lakki).
