Atheras Ridge Hike (Arethousa to Dokimi)
37° 36.7′ N · 26° 12.8′ E
A short but demanding waymarked climb from Arethousa onto the Atheras ridge near Profitis Ilias, with views over southern Ikaria, Fourni and the open Aegean.
Practical
Anavasi: marked, short but demanding, and exposed to strong winds that blow almost constantly - do not attempt in a meltemi gale. The Atheras range (ancient Pramnos) runs the length of the island and reaches 1,037 m. A related route climbs from the road east of Karavostamo to Efanos, the island's highest point, on a clear wide path. Arethousa is a few km SE of Evdilos - taxi from the harbour. Position is Arethousa village, the trailhead (el.wikipedia map link).
