Alinda Bay (Leros)
37° 10.0′ N · 26° 50.4′ E
A large east-coast bay below the Pandeli castle and windmills, backed by Leros' most popular beach and the Bellenis Tower museum.
Practical
Anchor off the beach at the NW end in 4–5 m, clear of the many small-craft moorings. The bottom is sand and rock, so it may take more than one try. It gives better meltemi protection than it looks: little swell and only moderate gusts up to Force 6/7, though violent gusts come in with a strong meltemi. If it gets too much, Vromolithos usually offers slightly better shelter. Leros.gr calls Alinda the island's alternative port in strong S–SW winds and suggests 4–6 m mid-bay. Tavernas include Finikas, To Steki tou Dimitri and Varelia. 12 nm from Emborios (Kalymnos).
Best for
Beach, tavernas and a southerly-wind refuge
