Beach· Symi· Greece — Dodecanese, Sporades & North Aegean
Agios Vasilios (Symi)
36° 35.4′ N · 27° 48.8′ E
One of Symi's most beautiful beaches, very fine pebbles and sand reached only by boat, at the head of a deeply indented bay on the west coast.
Practical
Sailing Issues: anchor in 4–10 m over sand and weed south of the white Church of St Basil and take a line ashore SW of the church. Solid holding; meltemi-proof; safe in all but SSW–WNW winds. Charts show many rocks along the craggy shore that the author mostly could not find. Shady forest above the beach. Grecosailor lists adjacent Lapathos Beach: clear water, boat access only. mySea calls it lovely and untouched.
Best for
Boat-only beach in a meltemi
Season
Meltemi-proof; open SSW–WNW
