Agios Emilianos (Symi)
36° 36.4′ N · 27° 46.6′ E
The white monastery of Agios Emilianos on its own islet-peninsula off Cape Kefala, joined by a gated isthmus. It is one of Symi's most photogenic anchorages.
Practical
Sailing Issues: the prime anchorage is under the church and monastery, in 4–6 m over sand and weed, optionally with a line to the short quay. Open NNE–ESE. mySea places it under the short headland east of Cape Kefala. Grecosailor ('Saint Emilianos Church Bay'): good for a few hours in calm wind; a shore line needs about 60 m of rope. The blue-trimmed church sits in the monastery courtyard.
