Stavros Harbour (Donoussa)

37° 5.9′ N · 25° 47.6′ E

The tiny port and village of Stavros on the loneliest of the Small Cyclades, where a blue-domed church, a sand beach and a handful of tavernas wrap around one bay.

Practical

In port use the end of the Γ-shaped ferry pier or the rather shallow quay on the north side. C-Map, Garmin and EagleRay show the layout correctly. The harbour is open to any southerly or westerly (sailingissues). George Yachts: 4-8 m over sand with moderate holding and partial shelter from northerlies; ferries have priority. Sailboatliveaboard: about 2-4 m alongside, so sound first; few bollards at irregular spacing, so carry long lines; no lights to speak of, and night entry is not recommended. In the meltemi expect gusts of variable direction into the bay. Water may be available near the quay in small quantities by arrangement; fuel only by jerry can from the small road station. Services in the village: doctor's office (+30 22850 51506), mini-markets, bakery, ATM, post office (donoussa.gr; OSM). Coast guard: Naxos +30 22850 22300 or Amorgos +30 22850 71259. For the best meltemi shelter on the island, move to Kalotaritissa (Roussa) bay.
