Messaria (Charavgi) is an almost abandoned hamlet about 3.5 km from Stavros; Geometric-period settlement ruins were excavated nearby in 1967 (donoussa.gr). The island's highest point is 385 m (Wikipedia); OSM names the summit Papas. donoussa.gr notes an annual trail-running event (donoussatrailrunning.gr). Start at dawn with water; there is little shade.
