St Nicholas Bay Anchorage (Sikinos)

36° 40.3′ N · 25° 8.4′ E

A small bay just west of Alopronia harbour that one Grecosailor crew calls St Nickolas Bay. It is a quieter alternative to anchoring in the port among the ferry wash.

Practical

Position from Grecosailor (36°40'19.3"N 25°08'23.1"E). Sand and rock with some Posidonia: 7-10 m in the centre, over 10 m on the east side. Excellent protection from SSW swell, with room for 2-3 boats. There is a small reef on the west side, and a submarine cable further west, visible where it leaves the shore. Note: Sailing Issues instead places an 'Ag Nikolaos' anchorage east of the port toward Agios Georgios, near Dialiskari beach, so the name is used for more than one cove. Use the coordinates, not the name.

Best for

A quiet night near the port in settled weather
