37° 39.9′ N · 24° 17.7′ E · approximate
The 183 m French liner Burdigala, built in 1897 as the German Kaiser Friedrich, was sunk by a U-73 mine on 14 November 1916 a week before Britannic. She sits upright on sand at 57-76 m, and Kea Divers bills it as the best normoxic dive in the Mediterranean.
Practical
Technical diving only, through a licensed Greek dive centre (no independent diving). Line and deco stations are needed, currents can be strong, and dives run in winds under 16 kn. Kea Divers says it is about 1 nm from their Vourkari base; Wikipedia says about 800 m from the harbour; Kea Divers' general page says 700 m west of Korissia. A Junkers 52 aircraft lies nearby. No penetration and nothing may be removed. The coordinate is APPROXIMATE, placed about 1.5 km west of the Korissia harbour entrance from these descriptions; no published position was found. Do not anchor near dive boats in this area.
