Korissia Harbour (Kea)

Kea's ferry port and the first Cycladic landfall from Lavrio, tucked into the south-west corner of Agios Nikolaos Bay, called the largest and best-sheltered natural harbour in the Cyclades. The quay has bakeries, supermarkets and tavernas a few steps away, with a sandy beach inside the port.

About 25 berths stern- or bow-to with your own anchor (no lazy lines); depths 1.8-12 m on mud, which holds well (mySea). Sailingissues warns that holding can be poor where rocks and stones stick out, and that in a strong NE meltemi both swell and gusts can make the quay untenable. mySea advises leaving for Vourkari above about Force 4-5. Ferries use the port, so keep clear of the ferry berth and allow for wash. Run by the Municipal Port Fund of Syros (tel. +30 22810 82336, contact@portofsyros.gr; office hours 8am-1pm and 5pm-10pm). Water and power come from card-operated pedestals. The first-day package for Kea, Kythnos and Serifos is EUR 7 including 200 L water and 2 kW power. After that a card costs EUR 2.20 + VAT for 150 L or 2 kW. Berthing fees for private yachts are a yearly rate per metre (EUR 150/m for 7-10 m, EUR 170/m for 10-15 m, EUR 200/m above 15 m) divided by 365, plus 24% VAT. That works out to roughly EUR 7 a night for a 12 m yacht. The price page gives no effective date, so verify locally. Cars and motorbikes are banned around the harbour from 8pm to 6am.
