Skala Cove (Sykamia, Serifos)

37° 12.2′ N · 24° 28.6′ E

A small sheltered sand cove on the east side of Sykamia bay with tamarisks and emerald water, connected to Sykamia by a 20-minute path. There is good snorkelling along the reef off Cape Sykamia.

Practical

SailingIssues: the fairest option in Sykamia bay, suitable in N to WSW winds, but there is limited room to swing. A dangerous reef runs about 500 m off Cape Sykamia (mapped on OpenStreetMap as Xera Sykamias near 37.2066 N, 24.4699 E). Give it a wide berth when entering, and snorkel it by dinghy. Trail 6A (1.1 km) leads from Sykamia past tafoni rock formations (municipality).
