Perissa Beach (Santorini)

36° 21.1′ N · 25° 28.3′ E

A 7 km strip of black volcanic sand running south from the cliff of Mesa Vouno through Perivolos toward Vlychada. It is lined with beach bars and tavernas.

Practical

Well organised, with sunbeds, water sports and wheelchair access (Greeka). Mini markets, dive centres and the footpath up to Ancient Thera. The sand gets very hot. Anchor at Perissa Anchorage (5 m sand). Perivolos to the south is quieter.

Best for

Long black-sand beach day
