Anchorage· Naxos· Greece — Cyclades

Panermos Bay (Naxos)

36° 57.5′ N · 25° 32.2′ E

A small sandy and pebble cove with a few palm trees on the remote south-east coast, below the hilltop ruins of an ancient acropolis. It is the closest Naxos anchorage to Koufonisia.

Practical

Sailingissues: it may look safe, but severe NE gusts come down the valley, so dig the anchor in well. Watch for the reef on the approach. mySea marks a 5-8 m spot (36.95841, 25.53786) on a stony bottom with bad holding, so set the anchor carefully and check it. Ashore there is a cafe with SUP hire, and boat trips leave from here to Rina cave (Greeka). A water taxi to Koufonisia leaves from the small harbour of Volakas, about 3 km away. In strong northerlies, see Panermos West Coves.
