Livadaki Beach & Aspropounta Lighthouse (Folegandros)

36° 38.2′ N · 24° 51.6′ E

A remote sand-and-flat-rock beach with blue-green water on the far south-west coast, a 10-minute walk below the Aspropounta lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1919 and is one of the largest lights in the Aegean.

Practical

Position from folegandros.gr. Access: three paths from Ano Meria (45 minutes to 1 hour), or the hourly caique from Agkali (15-20 minutes). Good in N, E, NE and NW winds. No services. The lighthouse stands 58 m above the sea with an 11 m tower, and its light is visible 17 nm. It has been solar-powered since 1986. Walk to it in 15 minutes from Livadaki or 60 minutes from Ano Meria (folegandros.gr). We found no cruising-guide anchoring notes for Livadaki, so treat it as a calm-day dinghy or tender stop from Vathi.
