Leivadaras Loukoumi (Ermoupoli Harbourfront)

37° 26.5′ N · 24° 56.5′ E

Ermoupoli has made loukoumi (Greek delight) since the 1830s, and Leivadaras is the shop National Geographic says locals use for it and for halvadopita, nougat pressed between thin wafers.

Practical

OSM maps two Leivadaras confectionery branches on the harbourfront by the ferry terminal (this pin and about 50 m east) and a Leivadaras deli on Chiou Street. Other loukoumi makers: Korres (Chiou 29, see separate entry), Kanakari and Spitiko tis Agnis on Mandilara street, Zachari & Alati in the centre, and Denaxas at 52 Ethnikis Antistaseos (Wikivoyage). Rose and mastic are the classic flavours. Boxed loukoumi keeps well on a hot boat; halvadopita softens, so keep it in the shade.
