Kythnos Trail Network

37° 24.8′ N · 24° 25.8′ E · approximate

Kythnos has a network of old footpaths, some waymarked, joining the villages with the beaches, the Kastro tis Orias, Vryokastro and Lefkes. It is a good way to see the stone-walled terraces of an island few charter crews explore inland.

Practical

The municipality highlights Route 1 (to Kastro tis Orias and Panagia Kyraleousa), Route 2 (through Dryopida past the 1852 wash-houses to Lefkes beach) and Route 6 (to Vryokastro, above Kolona). OpenStreetMap maps numbered routes 01-08 including 02-1/02-2 and 06A/06B. Distances and grades are not published on the official page; see experiencekythnos.gr and topoguide.gr for maps. Some routes are waymarked, others not, so carry a GPS track and water. The coordinate is approximate: Chora, the centre of the network.
