Kythnos Chora (Messaria)

The island capital in the hills: flat Cycladic roofs, stepped car-free lanes and many churches, including Agios Savvas from 1613. There is a new archaeological museum (opened 2023) and a quiet evening square.

Reached from Merichas by bus, taxi or rental car; Loutra is about 5 km away. The Archaeological Museum is in the former primary school (hours not verified). The Health Centre of Chora (+30 22810 31202) is here. Tavernas include Stamatis, Iter de Gusto and To Steki tou Ntetzi (OSM), and there is an ELINOIL fuel station on the road in.
