Kamares Harbour (Sifnos)

36° 59.4′ N · 24° 40.5′ E

Sifnos's ferry port, at the head of a long west-facing inlet under bare hills. The quay is lined with tavernas and pottery shops, and buses run up to Apollonia.

Practical

mySea: only a few visitor berths. About 10-15 yachts can lie stern-to between the slipway and the breakwater in 2 m (at the ramp) to 4 m (toward the breakwater), with deeper water behind it. The breakwater is reserved for a fishing boat and the fast ferry (mornings and evenings), apart from space for one yacht up to 14 m between the 2nd and 3rd bollards. SailingIssues (updated March 2026) puts realistic space at about 3-6 visiting yachts, with locals taking the best spots. You may lie alongside the ferry mole after the last ferry only with Port Police permission. Wait at anchor until the last ferry has left. Holding is not always good, so use all your chain. Water (500 L for €3.50) and electricity (€3 a day) are collected morning and evening (mySea, prices dated, verify locally). Port Police: +30 22840 33617. Hazards: the harbour is a lee shore in the meltemi with severe katabatic downbursts striking at an angle, and strong prolonged W or S winds bring dangerous waves; the breakwater berths are the safest then. A planned L-shaped breakwater for a yacht basin had not started as of March 2026 (SailingIssues). The entrance light shows Fl G on OpenStreetMap seamark data; check your chart.
