Detis Bay (Kato Koufonisi)

36° 54.7′ N · 25° 34.8′ E · approximate

A small sandy beach with turquoise-green water just west of the old Panagia settlement on Kato Koufonisi, sheltered from the meltemi.

Practical

Position is approx: about 110 m offshore of OpenStreetMap's Detis (Δέτη) beach polygon (centroid 36.9120N 25.5807E), checked as water against the OSM coastline. koufonisia.gr: sand, protected from the meltemi and northern winds. Grecosailor: shelters from strong meltemi winds, but placement is key because the seabed near shore is rocky with poor holding, so drop in the sand further out and check the set; wash from passing ferries and boats is not strong but becomes tiresome over time. No published depths found; sound in. Note: koufonisia.gr places Detis east of the old settlement, while OSM maps it to the west; trust your eyes on arrival.
