Cheronissos Bay (Sifnos)
37° 2.0′ N · 24° 38.8′ E
A long, fjord-like inlet at the barren northern tip of Sifnos, ending at a tiny fishing hamlet with potteries and two fish tavernas.
Practical
SailingIssues: the cove ends in a beach covered by permanent moorings, and holding is poor in places; it rates this the least attractive Sifnos anchorage. The quays are taken by fishing and tripper boats, so anchor and take a line ashore. The wind inside can differ from outside, and SE gusts are possible. mySea: 5-15 m over sand and weed, bad holding. At the jetty go bows-to and watch the shallow shingle in front. Akra Fillippos light (Fl W, per OpenStreetMap seamark data) marks the cape to the north. Trail 9 (2.4 km) comes down from Kambanario past the island's only lake (seasonal) and an ancient tower (Sifnos Trails).
