Agios Nikolaos Harbour (Anafi)

36° 20.6′ N · 25° 46.2′ E

Anafi's only harbour, a small ferry port with an outer breakwater arm in a bay on the south coast below the hilltop Chora. Most cruisers make it the stepping stone between Santorini and the Dodecanese.

Practical

Grecosailor: depth about 3.5 m entering and leaving by the new outer arm, but the area is small and the bottom is cluttered with chains, concrete blocks and lines. One crew had to free their anchor from a chain, so use a trip line, or go alongside if space allows; the harbourmaster helps find a berth. Ferries use the two large piers (aegeanislands.gr) and their wash and manoeuvres take priority. Basic water, electricity and fuel; water and diesel are limited and must be arranged at the quay in advance. Harbour light Fl 3s 5M (OpenSeaMap). Shelter: good from the N-NW meltemi; aegeanislands.gr warns that SE winds raise a dangerous surge and need serious attention. Port Authority (Limenarchio Anafis), Ormos Agiou Nikolaou, +30 22860 61216. A road climbs to the Chora; some tavernas and rooms are at the harbour. Not a port of entry. Name note: Grecosailor lists 'Anafi Port (Chora)' at this position plus a separate 'Agios Nikolaos'; the Port Authority's address places the port in Ormos Agiou Nikolaou.

Best for
