Agia Irini Beach Anchorage (Thirasia)

36° 27.1′ N · 25° 20.8′ E · approximate

An open roadstead off the dark-pebble beach at Agia Irini, just south of the Riva ferry pier on Thirasia's northeast tip, looking across the north channel to Oia.

Practical

Position approx: set about 150 m north of the OSM beach polygon (36.451-36.452 N 25.344-25.348 E), in the bay east of the Riva pier. Sailingissues: the Riva/Agia Irini bay is open to NW-NE and SE-S winds, so use it only in calm weather or light westerlies, and ask Captain Nikos at the Agkistri Taverna (+30 22860 29084) about local moorings rather than anchoring blind. Depth and holding are not published; approach slowly with a bow lookout, as rocks fringe Thirasia's northern tip (OpenSeaMap, about 36.458 N 25.345 E). Keep clear of the ferry approach to the Riva pier (ferries call about five times a week, per Ferryhopper). The beach is unorganised dark grey pebble (travel.gr).
