Korfos (Agios Nikolaos) Bay & Quay (Thirasia)

36° 26.3′ N · 25° 21.1′ E

Thirasia's main landing and its most sheltered yacht spot: a short ferry quay and a strip of fish tavernas at the foot of the caldera cliff below Manolas. Sailingissues calls the bay 'Agios Nikolaos'; it is one of very few places in the caldera where a yacht can tie to land.

Practical

The main quay serves the small local ferry (the Nissos Thirassia per sailingissues) and tour boats; do not berth there. Sailingissues: yachts lie line-ashore to the smallest pier, about 100 m north of the serpentine trail up to Manolas, using a trip line because the bottom (1-12 m) is foul with rocks and many permanent moorings. The pier is supposed to be free from 6pm to 11am, when the tripper boats are gone; outside those hours, take a mooring (see Captain John's Moorings) and land by tender. Quite sheltered from the meltemi. The tavernas are busy at lunch when the caldera tour boats arrive and quiet in the evening. A stepped path climbs to Manolas (OSM). Under the 2026 seismic decision (to March 31, 2027), access and stay at Korfos are allowed by land and sea. Korfos had 2 residents in 2021 (Wikipedia). Merged entry: formerly separate 'Korfos Harbour' and 'Agios Nikolaos Bay Quay' records for the same bay, 60 m apart.
