Vallée Blanche Shark Dive (Faa'a)
17° 32.6′ S · 149° 37.4′ W
Tahiti's best-known big-fish site on the outer reef off Faa'a: grey reef, lemon and blacktip sharks, Maori snappers, schools of jacks and barracuda, and the occasional tiger shark.
Practical
Coordinates are Eleuthera's 'Vallée Blanche' site. A stone tiki dedicated to technical diving instructor Dominique Fleurisson watches over the site; dive it preferably in the morning (Eleuthera). Nearby 'Tahi Nui' (-17.5473, -149.62797), by the Faa'a lighthouse, hides an unidentified wreck (tangled metal and a lookout post) with sharks and schools of yellow snappers. Outer-reef boat dive with a Taina operator; the airport zone rules apply to any transit.
