Faa'a International Airport (PPT)

17° 33.4′ S · 149° 36.7′ W

Tahiti-Faa'a, French Polynesia's only international airport, built in 1961 on reclaimed reef next to the lagoon: crew changes, parts couriers and the STPAF border-police office.

Practical

Coordinates from Tahiti Heritage. Served by Air Tahiti Nui, Air France, Air New Zealand and LATAM; Air Tahiti flies to 46 islands (Wikivoyage). Rental cars, taxis (fares from 1,000 XPF plus 130 XPF/km by day, 230 XPF/km at night, Jan 2019; verify), Le Truck buses and Wi-Fi hotspot rental (the charter base guide recommends Tahiti Wifi at the airport). The runway was built on a 3,500 x 150 m platform filled onto the reef flat (Tahiti Heritage). The lagoon channel passes both runway ends, so boats must get Vigie VHF 12 permission to cross. Marina Taina is about 2 km south.
