Vaitape Ferry & Boat Dock
16° 30.4′ S · 151° 45.2′ W
Vaitape's main quay, where the Air Tahiti airport shuttle boat, the Maupiti Express and the inter-island ferries land, and where cruisers tie their dinghies to go shopping, clear in or out, and fill water.
Practical
Dinghies can tie to the ferry dock opposite the tourist information office (Noonsite, June 2026). A separate public dock at the fish market opposite the cemetery is for loading and unloading, and is handy for picking up crew off the airport ferry. Its overnight use is possible but has no security, and thefts from boats have been reported. No Foreign Land users report about 3 m at high tide alongside, frequent charter-boat use, loud music at night and strict enforcement of a roughly one-hour limit. An outboard was stolen from a yacht alongside in Dec 2018: lift and lock dinghy and outboard. Fresh water by prepaid card from the dock tap (see Vaitape Wharf Fresh Water). Gendarmerie, banks, pharmacy, tourist office and the Chin Lee and Super U supermarkets are all within walking distance.
