Bora Bora Lagoon Tours & Whale Watching

16° 30.4′ S · 151° 45.2′ W · approximate

Licensed operators run lagoon snorkel safaris, motu lunches and, from July to October, approved humpback whale-watching trips outside the reef.

Practical

Noonsite recommends using an approved operator for whale watching and asking the Vaitape tourism office where swimming and snorkeling are allowed in the lagoon. Tahiti Tourisme lists whale-watching operators (Tohora Bora Bora, Reef Discovery, Hirom, Bora Ocean Adventures). Coordinate is the Vaitape quay, where most tours pick up (approx). Lagoon rules: stay 100 ft from dolphins and 160 ft from whales, 330 ft if with a calf (charter base guide).
