Vaiea Grocery Stores
16° 26.7′ S · 152° 14.9′ W
A handful of small family magasins strung along the ring road through Petei and Vaiea: tinned goods, rice, frozen meat, some fruit and vegetables, and fresh baguettes in the morning. Enough for topping up, not for a full provisioning.
Practical
Noonsite: four small shops with limited supplies, fruit and vegetables. The coordinate is Magasin Virau in Petei. Other OSM-mapped shops: Chez Lili (-16.44231, -152.24795), Chez Homai (-16.44517, -152.24761), Chez Koki (-16.44471, -152.24765), Purotu Shop (-16.4522, -152.25006), shops near the quay (-16.45396, -152.25032), and Fare Toa Tarava in Hurunanu (-16.45371, -152.25673; +689 87 75 70 71). The biggest grocery is Ricke Market in Haranae on the north side (-16.43649, -152.25627). An OSM contributor notes it sells no alcohol and is closed on Saturday. Posted hours: Mon-Thu 7am-5pm, Fri 7am-3pm, Sun 7am-12pm (verify locally). Stock up in Bora Bora or Raiatea before you come, especially alcohol and fresh produce, because the shops depend on the supply ship and ferry.
