16° 26.9′ S · 152° 14.9′ W

The white Protestant church at the heart of Vaiea, beside the mairie. Sunday service with Tahitian himene singing is the island's weekly gathering.

Practical

Location from OSM and Tahiti Heritage. Maupiti was a stronghold of resistance to the missionaries (the Mamaia movement, 1827-1832), and a religious code governed the island until after the Second World War (Tahiti Heritage). Visitors are welcome at Sunday morning service: dress modestly, with shoulders covered and long trousers or a pareo.
